Hôtel du Bac
Casual Breton maritime. White walls, timber floors, blue-and-white color palette throughout. Small and personal rather than grand — this is a working port hotel, not a resort.
Book Le Bistrot du Bac in advance — it fills up fast, especially in summer, and walk-ins are a gamble
Why It Matters
A 4-star hotel in a tiny Breton fishing port, with a Michelin Plate restaurant in-house and a one-star Michelin restaurant 50 meters away — that combination in a village this small is rare. The port views from virtually every room seal it.
Sitting right on the working port of Sainte-Marine — a small fishing village where the Odet river meets the sea in southern Finistère — the Hôtel du Bac is exactly what it looks like from the outside: a classic three-story Breton maritime hotel in aqua and white, with 11 rooms all facing the boats. But the food situation is anything but ordinary. The in-house Bistrot du Bac holds a Michelin Plate and chef Thibault Rosset serves langoustines hauled off local boats. And 50 meters up the quay, their sister restaurant Les Trois Rochers has earned a full Michelin star under chef Frédéric Claquin.

The hotel rents electric and classic bikes from May to September for exploring the Finistère coastline, local cycle routes, and the surrounding countryside. Reservation recommended.
The hotel sits right on the port, making it an ideal base for coastal walks along the sentiers des douaniers (customs officers' path). The seasonal pedestrian ferry — the 'p'tit bac' — links Sainte-Marine to Bénodet across the Odet, a classic short crossing.
