Why It Matters
The Luke Edward Hall redesign is the main event — his first alpine project, and a genuinely distinctive piece of interior storytelling. Part of the Chapitre Six boutique collection and a Relais & Châteaux member. The MyBlend spa with Japanese sauna, cold plunge and contrast therapy circuit is properly good. And Le Trappeur bistro, under chef Jérôme Blanchetiere, earns repeat visits on its own.
An inn since Megève's transformation from farming village to aristo ski resort in the 1920s, Hôtel Saint-Georges has just been put through a very deliberate reinvention. Paris-based studio Chapitre Six brought in British artist Luke Edward Hall to art-direct the whole thing, and the result is 29 rooms and 5 suites spread across four floors of a historic chalet — each floor its own narrative chapter, each room a small riot of jewel-toned velvets, Pierre Frey fabrics, Christopher Moore oak-and-acorn prints and hand-painted murals by Pauline Leyravaud. Think Savoyard chalet crossed with an English country house, filtered through a Wes Anderson lens. And the location is genuinely hard to beat: at the end of Megève's pedestrian street, two minutes on foot from Le Chamois gondola.

Chambre Classique
The entry-level rooms, but entry-level is relative here. Located on the ground floor or first floor, these 19 sqm spaces are decked in Christopher Moore fabrics with oak and acorn motifs, an edelweiss-patterned carpet underfoot and bathrooms tiled in patterns inspired by antique models. Views look out to the village, the bell tower or the mountains. The bathtub has a rainfall shower head. Compact but poetic.

Chambre Deluxe
The sweet spot for most guests. These larger rooms pair light wood panelling with alpine-forest-motif wallpapers, plus a dedicated reading corner. Bathrooms are generous — shower or bathtub, coloured marble, the works. Most have a private balcony or terrace that catches the morning sun. Some are air-conditioned.

Chambre Deluxe Mezzanine
The family fix. Built into the chalet's roof structure on a split level, it sleeps up to four — two queen beds or four singles. The attic-like layout with exposed timber and tucked-away spaces gives it a genuine treehouse-cabin feel that kids love. Bathroom includes a bathtub with rainfall shower and separate WC.

A step up in size and story. Headboards here are dressed in pastoral scene fabrics that feel like reinvented toile de Jouy. All rooms open onto views of the bell tower or mountain peaks. Bathrooms feature custom-made tiles, wooden vanities topped with coloured marble, and a rainfall shower and/or bathtub. Some rooms are air-conditioned.

Same design language as the Supérieure but with the addition of a private balcony — views extend further and the morning light hits differently when you can step outside. Same bathroom quality with custom tiles, marble vanities and rainfall shower options.

At 48 sqm this is where the hotel's narrative ambition really opens up. A separate living room, a balcony with bell tower views, and bathrooms with hand-painted murals depicting alpine villages and stylised forests in the toile de Jouy tradition. The biggest option in the chalet at 58 sqm across two levels — feels closer to a private mountain apartment than a hotel room. Sleeps four in two queen beds or four singles. Suite Prestige
