Heights House Hotel
Chic antique-meets-modern Southern mansion. Think salvaged chandeliers from the 1940s, limewash-painted bedrooms, and vintage rugs alongside Bose speakers and Samsung Frame TVs. It's moody, intimate, and community-minded — the kind of place that hosts a Pride party on the front lawn as readily as a candlelit supper club.
Book The Parlor bar in advance — seating is very limited and it fills up, especially weekends. Call or text directly at 919-238-9043.
Why It Matters
MICHELIN Guide selected and named one of Travel + Leisure's best new hotels in the world. The only pre-Civil War mansion operating as a hotel in Raleigh, on the National Historic Landmarks register. Nine rooms only — it never feels like a hotel.
Heights House Hotel is a 9-room adults-only boutique hotel inside a fully restored 1858 Italianate mansion in Raleigh's Boylan Heights neighborhood. Originally commissioned as Montfort Hall, it's one of the last pre-Civil War houses standing in Raleigh and a National Historic Landmark. Husband-and-wife owners Sarah and Jeff Shepherd poured four million dollars into the restoration, opening in May 2021 — and the results show: 15-foot ceilings, 10 fireplaces, original hardwoods, and a stained-glass skylight rotunda that stops guests mid-stride.
