Why It Matters

Hamburg's original HENRI property and the flagship of the brand. The Abendbrot (evening supper) included in the room rate is a genuine differentiator — a nod to 1920s canteen culture. The open-fridge honour system and the guest-only Kontorküche lounge give it a 'sleeping at a friend's place' feel that chain hotels simply can't replicate.

A seven-story restored Kontorhaus (office building) right between Hamburg's Hauptbahnhof and Rathausmarkt, Henri leans hard into 50s and 60s office nostalgia without being a theme park about it. Retro telephones on desks, mid-century furniture, warm brick outside — it winks at the Mad Men era rather than screaming it. But it's practical and genuinely comfortable, with 65 studios and suites, a ground-floor lounge that doubles as bar and reception, and a private spa on the top floor with views to the Elbphilharmonie.
