Why It Matters
The Renover Award-winning conversion of a genuine 1960s transformer station, with original structural elements turned into design features. One of the few Danish hotels with an A energy efficiency rating. A 12-meter lobby that genuinely impresses, steps from Kongens Nytorv metro.
A 1963 electrical transformer station on Bremerholm, converted into a 31-room boutique hotel between 2016 and 2018. The renovation won the Renover Award in 2019. Raw concrete walls, original terrazzo stairs, giant green iron doors, and that signature dark bronze jalousie facade are all intact. The lobby's 12-meter-high central hall stops you in your tracks — a 3D-printed metallic sculpture floats above a brushed steel cocktail bar. Rooms go the other direction: warm greys, plush carpeting, marble bathrooms, BOSE sound systems, and custom beds with headboards that feel almost like business class. Small, serious, and quietly confident.
