Highway
Cotswold coaching inn character with a contemporary refresh. Earthy, linen-heavy interiors. Relaxed and genuinely local in feel — not a corporate hotel, not a stuffy country house.
The in-house larder on the first floor is free for guests at any hour — great for a late-night snack or early morning coffee before breakfast
Why It Matters
Listed in the Michelin Guide and featured on Tablet Hotels. One of only a handful of places in Burford to get a post-renovation boutique treatment while keeping the historic bones intact. Sister property to The Bull at Burford, just 50 metres down the street.
Highway sits in a 15th-century coaching inn on Burford's famous sloping High Street — one of the best-preserved market town streets in the Cotswolds. Parts of the building date to 1480, and the creaky floorboards, timber beams and sloping ceilings are all still very much present. But the 11 individually named rooms got a smart, considered refit: rainfall showers, Wildsmith toiletries, robes, and a 24/7 self-serve larder stocked with tea, coffee, San Pellegrino and homemade brownies on the first floor. The big differentiator is Toro, the on-site Spanish tapas restaurant — genuinely good, open to non-guests, and a real surprise in a Cotswolds village.
