Sweden's most talked-about new opening of 2025 sits on the shores of Lake Västra Nedsjön, 25 minutes from Gothenburg. Hjortviken is deliberately social and analog: no in-room TVs, but curated speakers in every room and five bars scattered through the building. The whole place is built around Bay Bay Pool Club — 1,750 sqm of heated indoor and outdoor pools, 90 sunbeds, crackling firepits, and a Spanish-inspired restaurant right at the water's edge.

New-wing rooms with panoramic lake-view balconies. Nature-inspired tones, glamorous textures, same 20–22 sqm footprint as the Pool Side Balcony. The views over Lake Västra Nedsjön are the selling point here — particularly good in the morning light.

Balcony Pool Side
Top-floor rooms in the new wing with balconies overlooking the pool. Mid-century eclectic style with low-key glamour is how the hotel describes them. At 20–22 sqm they're slightly smaller than the terrace rooms but the elevated position gives better views of the pool action below.

A step up from the Small Double, still in the original building. Slightly more breathing room at 16–18 sqm, with the same nature-toned renovation and speaker system. Good option for couples who want a bit more space without paying for a terrace.

The largest rooms in the original building at 21–28 sqm. Classic mid-century style in earthy tones. The one exception to the hotel's no-TV policy — there is a screen here, though they note it doesn't have to be turned on. Can accommodate up to 4 guests with an extra bed. Good for families or groups of three.

The entry-level option in the original building. Compact and newly renovated with a nature-inspired colour palette. No TV — just a speaker system with curated playlists. Ideal for solo travellers or couples who plan to spend most of their time in the Pool Club and common areas rather than the room.

New-wing rooms with terraces facing Lake Västra Nedsjön rather than the pool. Same size as the Pool Side version (21–25 sqm) but with quieter, more scenic lake views. Described by the hotel as 'analog vibes and cinematic views combined with effortless elegance.'

In the new wing, right next to Bay Bay Pool Club. The private terrace overlooks the pool — you can basically roll out of bed and into the water. At 21–25 sqm these are noticeably more spacious than the original-building rooms. No TV, just speakers.
