Why It Matters
One of Granada's most architecturally interesting hotels, with no direct equivalent in the city. The Alabastro Building addition is genuinely striking — not the usual dismal annex — and the combination of period plasterwork with minimalist interiors is pulled off with real confidence. Conde Nast Traveler called it Granada's most stylish luxury hotel.
Two very different buildings share one address here, and the contrast is the whole point. Out front: a lemon-yellow 19th-century Granadan palace complete with an imperial marble staircase, original plasterwork Doric columns, and painted trompe l'oeil ceilings. Behind it: the Alabastro Building, a glass-and-alabaster-lattice contemporary structure that reads like the Louvre pyramid dropped into Andalusia. Together they form 42 rooms of five-star boutique hotel, and the dual personality runs through everything — monochrome minimalism in the new wing, warm restored grandeur in the old one.
