Hotel Blu di Te
Design-forward boutique with a collector's-house feel. Antique terrazzo floors in turquoise, pale rose, and charcoal. Old brickwork, diffused lighting, velvet and linen upholstery. Warm and convivial — more like a stylish friend's house than a hotel.
The rooftop pool requires a reservation even for hotel guests — book as early as possible, especially in August
Why It Matters
One of the first true design boutique hotels on the Ligurian Riviera, and still the most design-focused. The furniture collection is genuinely museum-quality and all for sale via an online shop. The rooftop pool overlooking the Gulf of Tigullio is a bonus most competitors can't match.
Blu di Te — the name is a play on the French 'bleu de toi,' meaning 'I'm crazy about you' — is a 20-room boutique hotel carved out of a restored Ligurian townhouse covering over 1,500 square meters. It sits just off the port between the baroque church of San Giacomo and Villa Durazzo, tucked away from the main seafront drag. The four design-world owners (including a Milanese art stylist and an international interior buyer) spent close to two years sourcing furniture from 1930s–50s Europe: expect Arne Jacobsen chairs, De Sede sofas, pieces by Ettore Sottsass, and a couple of items from the 1958 Universal Expo. And yes, almost everything you see is for sale.

How you'll actually spend your days.
Pre-dinner drinks prepared by the in-house barman in the internal courtyard/patio. Multiple guests specifically mention the cocktails and Aperol spritzes as highlights of the stay.
Almost every piece of furniture and decor in the hotel is for sale — from €95 Moroccan teapots to €2,200 velvet armchairs. The online shop at shop.bludite.com lists current available pieces. A genuinely unusual hotel activity: browsing the rooms and deciding what to ship home.
Small live music events and happenings are hosted at the property in the evenings. The spa area is also available for private event hire.
The hotel's own 10-metre wooden boat, fully restored in 2016 in teak and fine wood, with a trusted sailor. Day trips head to Portofino, Camogli, and San Fruttuoso. On-board service includes lunch with fine wines and champagne. Also available at night. Open to non-guests — you don't need to be staying at the hotel to book it.
The rooftop pool overlooks the Gulf of Tigullio. Open to hotel guests and non-guests alike (with a fee), but access is by reservation only — including for in-house guests. Day beds available for roughly €100 including poolside lunch. Minimum age 16. Pool hours: 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM.
