Why It Matters
One of very few hotels in Belgium listed in both the Michelin Guide and Tablet Hotels. The Anglo-Norman architecture is genuinely rare on the Belgian coast, and the 2022 renovation managed to modernize without stripping any of the building's original character. The Vanhollebeke family has run hospitality businesses in Knokke for generations.
Hotel Britannia is a 4-star boutique hotel in the Zoute district of Knokke-Heist, housed in a landmark Anglo-Norman villa built around 1926–1928. The exterior is all white stucco and English country-house drama; the interior, fully renovated in 2022, goes clean and contemporary — soothing color palette, wooden floors, natural light. It sits 100m from the beach, run by the Vanhollebeke family with a hospitality-first mentality that guests consistently call old-fashioned in the best possible way.
