Historic glamour meets restrained contemporary luxury. The bones of the place are genuinely old — Oscar Wilde, Winston Churchill, David Bowie and Princess Diana all came here. But the rooms themselves feel modern and calm, not fussy. Think dark lacquered finishes, Carrara marble bathrooms and serious thread counts, not chintz.
The Green Bar is a proper cocktail bar off Regent Street — non-guests can walk in, and the botanical cocktails are excellent. Far less crowded than the main dining rooms.

One of London's most storied addresses: 160-plus years of history, two on-site Michelin-starred restaurants (Alex Dilling at Hotel Café Royal holds two stars; Cakes & Bubbles by Albert Adrià holds one), the Akasha Spa voted London's best hotel spa, and suite guests get a chauffeur-driven Rolls Royce or the option to self-drive a Ferrari or Lamborghini.
Hotel Café Royal sits right where Regent Street meets Piccadilly Circus, inside a Grade II listed building that opened as a café and restaurant in 1865. The conversion to a hotel happened in 2012, designed by Sir David Chipperfield, with the main lobby later reimagined by Piero Lissoni. The historic public rooms — gilded, ornate, unapologetically grand — have been painstakingly restored, while the 159 guest rooms and suites are modern and quietly luxurious. Two of the on-site restaurants hold Michelin stars. The spa, Akasha, was voted London's Best Hotel Spa by Time Out in 2025.
