Hotel Casa Morisca
Intimate Moorish heritage boutique. Quiet, historically serious, and architecturally authentic. Feels like staying in a museum that actually has comfortable beds.
Book the Mirador room early — it's one of a kind, with multiple windows and full Alhambra views, and it goes fast.
Why It Matters
An award-winning restoration of a genuine 15th-century Moorish mansion, listed in both the Michelin Guide and Tablet Hotels. Original architectural details — barrel-vaulted brick ceilings, polychrome wooden ceilings, tiled floors, riad courtyard — are all preserved. The Mirador penthouse room offers panoramic views of the Alhambra that you genuinely won't find anywhere cheaper.
Casa Morisca is exactly what its name says — a Moorish house. Specifically, a meticulously restored 15th-century Moorish residence deep in Granada's Albaicín quarter, right at the foot of the Alhambra. The house is arranged around a central courtyard with a bubbling fountain, an oasis of quiet in one of Spain's most visited historic districts. Each of the 14 rooms is individually decorated, with original details like Mudéjar coffered ceilings, keyhole arches, polychrome woodwork, and Arab tiles kept intact. There's no full restaurant — this is a place you leave during the day and return to when you want stillness.

How you'll actually spend your days.
The hotel is essentially inside one of Europe's best-preserved Moorish quarters. Mirador de San Nicolás is a short walk uphill; Paseo de los Tristes is about 5 minutes downhill along the Darro. The Sacromonte cave district is reachable on foot in 15–20 minutes.
Reception can arrange guided tours of the Alhambra and Generalife. The Alhambra is roughly a 5-minute walk from the hotel. Book well in advance — tickets are famously scarce.
Reception can book flamenco performances in the Sacromonte area — the traditional home of Granada's flamenco culture, easily walkable from the hotel.
In-room massages can be arranged on request. No dedicated spa on-site.
