Hotel Clark Budapest
Slickly modern boutique with eclectic Art Deco and contemporary design. Lion imagery everywhere — 1,650 lion heads in total — referencing the stone lions of the Chain Bridge. The lobby feels like a stage for city life. Bold, playful, and genuinely design-led without feeling like a try-hard concept hotel.
The Danube Top Floor Studio on the 7th floor has a freestanding bathtub and a private terrace — worth the upgrade
Why It Matters
Michelin Key winner. One of the most dramatically located hotels in central Europe — literally at the foot of the Chain Bridge, facing both the Danube and Castle Hill. Adults-only 86-room property built from scratch on a contested 677 sqm site where nothing had stood since a WWII bombing. The Leo Rooftop Bar offers some of the best 360-degree panorama views in Budapest. The Art Corner initiative has rotated contemporary Hungarian art exhibitions in the lobby and Leo Bistro since 2021.
Hotel Clark Budapest sits on one of the most singular plots in Hungary — Clark Ádám Square, the ceremonial zero-kilometer point of the country, wedged between the Chain Bridge and the Castle Hill funicular. The building opened in April 2018 after years of architectural debate over this 677 sqm corner site. From the street it reads as restrained and contemporary; step inside and the interior explodes with color, Art Deco references, lion motifs, and postmodern whimsy. All 86 rooms are adults-only.

How you'll actually spend your days.
A rotating contemporary art exhibition program running since 2021, hosted in the hotel lobby and Leo Bistro. The 9th edition in 2026 features work by Hungarian abstract artist Judit Horváth Lóczi. Opening vernissages are ticketed events with drinks, food, and sometimes live performance. Free to view during normal hotel hours.
The team arranges transport, restaurant reservations, leisure programs, and in-room celebrations (flowers, champagne). Available 24 hours. They also publish a regular 'Curated with Love by Clark' guide to the best of Budapest by season.
Complimentary E-bike rental for guests. Budapest has an increasingly bike-friendly layout and the hotel's location at the base of Castle Hill and next to the Danube riverside path makes this a genuinely useful perk.
Two sunlight-filled executive boardrooms with state-of-the-art screens and high-speed WiFi. One seats 8 guests, the other 14. Ideal for board meetings, presentations, or private business breakfasts. Larger events can spill into Leo Bistro or Leo Rooftop.
