Why It Matters
Considered the first boutique hotel in Marbella. The building dates to 1650 and has been carefully restored twice — most recently in 2020 — preserving original 17th-century details alongside contemporary design. It's a member of both Historic Hotels Worldwide (since 2022) and Tablet Hotels. Seven rooms only, with a rooftop that doubles as a breakfast spot and evening dining venue.
Seven rooms. One suite. A 17th-century manor house in Marbella's Old Town that was once the summer residence of Empress Eugénie de Montijo and later the home of French opera singer Claude Devoize. The Costa del Sol is full of tower-block hotels crammed into overdeveloped coastline — this is the opposite of that. It's small, deeply considered, and full of original artwork made specifically for the building.

Alhambra Suite (Chic Suite)
The one suite. Named for the Alhambra palace in Granada, it's the most historically opulent room in the hotel. Overlooking the Old Town's main street with a large balcony and floor-to-ceiling window. High wood-beamed ceilings and a Moorish-style arched doorway lead to the bathroom. The only room with a street-facing view.
Banús Guestroom (Chic Superior)
Takes its cue from luxury yacht interiors — sleek, contemporary, and deliberately glam in a nod to Puerto Banús just down the coast. Elegant and contemporary.
Califato Guestroom (Chic)
Transports guests to Córdoba with a rich arabesque interior drawing on the decoration of the Mezquita and Medina Azahara. Richly layered and luxurious in feel.
Indalo Guestroom (Chic)
Inspired by the deserts and whitewashed villages of Almería. Neutral tones and natural materials throughout — much of the furniture was custom-made, including a natural cane headboard, white marble bedside tables, and pendant lights modelled on the Indalo symbol from Mojácar.
Maestranza Guestroom (Chic)
Themed on Seville. Traditional blue tiles and a velvet headboard shaped like a flamenca dancer's hair comb. Queen or king bed, sofa, writing desk, and an Andalusian-tiled walk-in rain shower bathroom.
Marismas Guestroom (Chic Superior)
Glamorous and elegant, themed on the Marismas wetlands of Huelva. Think sandy beach textures and exotic African bird motifs. A guest favourite — one recent review specifically singled it out as 'stunning'.
Zahara Guestroom (Chic Superior)
Inspired by the culture of Cádiz — flamenco, sherry, vivid colour. Elegant and vibrant, this is among the more character-filled rooms in the hotel.
