Hotel d'Angleterre
Grand European palace hotel meets contemporary Nordic sensibility. Formal without being stuffy. Expect fresh flowers, Champagne on arrival, and Bang & Olufsen TVs — but also a Balthazar DJ set on Friday nights and a pastel-pink pâtisserie next door.
The Kongens Nytorv metro stop is 50 meters from the entrance — easiest 15-minute airport connection in any European city center.
Why It Matters
One of the oldest continuously operating luxury hotels in the world (est. 1755). Denmark's only 5-star superior rated hotel. Home to Michelin-starred Marchal. Houses the only heated indoor pool in central Copenhagen. Featured in Alfred Hitchcock's 'Torn Curtain.' In 2014 named to both Travel + Leisure's IT List and Condé Nast Traveler's Hot List as one of the Best New Design Hotels.
Hotel d'Angleterre has stood on Kongens Nytorv since 1755 — making it one of the oldest luxury hotels in the world. The snow-white neoclassical facade is a Copenhagen landmark, and the interior earns every bit of its reputation: 92 individually designed rooms and suites, a Michelin-starred restaurant, Denmark's first Champagne bar, a subterranean spa with the only heated indoor pool in downtown Copenhagen, and a pastel-pink pâtisserie that locals queue for on weekends. Extensively gutted and rebuilt in 2011–2013, it now balances stately period grandeur — gilded chandeliers, hand-tufted carpets, mosaic glass ceilings — with contemporary Nordic design and a serious art collection that includes original works by Andy Warhol and Joan Miró.

How you'll actually spend your days.
The hotel runs a rotating programme of art exhibitions throughout its public spaces. Permanent pieces include original works by Andy Warhol and Joan Miró. Current long-term exhibition (2025–2030) features works by Danish artist Carl-Henning Pedersen on loan from Carl-Henning Pedersens Fond. Regular events include Champagne Croquis evenings and Chefs' Social collaborations.
Since 1995, thousands of lights have blanketed the hotel's white facade each Christmas season, making it one of Copenhagen's most iconic holiday landmarks. The hotel stages festive events and seasonal offerings throughout December.
The hotel's knowledgeable concierge team arranges restaurant reservations (including hard-to-book Copenhagen tables), event tickets, private tours, and bespoke local experiences. They know the city in substantial detail.
A seasonal pop-up boutique concept that transforms into an urban beach club in the heart of Copenhagen during summer months. Part of the hotel's Creations platform, which also hosts private dinners, wine tastings, and curated pop-up events year-round.
Special branded d'Angleterre bicycles available for guests to explore Copenhagen — one of the world's great cycling cities.
Artisanal afternoon tea served in the vaulted Gallery Hall, in collaboration with KRUG Champagne. Full British tradition with a Champagne twist. Sundays 3pm–5pm.
Lavish weekend brunch in the main Marchal restaurant. Champagne, naturally. A popular Copenhagen social event.
