Why It Matters
The only ice hotel in North America and one of very few in the world. Operating since 2001, it has welcomed over 2 million visitors. The entire structure is rebuilt annually with a new theme — from Indigenous culture to historic timelines — making every year's edition a one-off. In 2025-2026 the on-site restaurant was elevated through a partnership with Fairmont Le Château Frontenac.
The only ice hotel in North America, the Hôtel de Glace is rebuilt from scratch every single winter at Village Vacances Valcartier, 20 minutes north of Québec City. Over 45,000 tons of snow and 3,000 blocks of ice go into its construction each year, producing 30 hand-sculpted suites spread across 53,000 square feet. It opens in early January, melts in late March, and the whole cycle starts again — with a brand-new architectural plan and theme every season.

Premium Deluxe Suite with Fireplace, Private Hot Tub and Sauna (1 bed)
The largest and most complete suite in the hotel. Fireplace, private hot tub, and private sauna — all yours. The suite price reflects it: $1,125 CAD before taxes. If you're going to sleep in a sub-zero room, this is the way to do it properly.
QueenPremium Suite with Fireplace and Private Hot Tub (1 bed)
The step up in luxury. This suite adds a private outdoor hot tub to the fireplace setup — so you can slip out of your sleeping bag, fire up the hot tub, and soak under the winter sky. Larger footprint than the standard themed suites. Good for special occasions where you want genuine privacy.

Regular Suite (1 bed)
The original Hôtel de Glace experience. Walls and bed frame are carved from snow and ice, giving it the intimacy of an igloo. You sleep in an arctic-grade sleeping bag on a wooden bed spring with a thermal insulated mattress. Interior temperature stays between -4 and -5°C. No frills beyond the ice itself, but the artisanship in even the simplest rooms is notable.
QueenRegular Suite (2 beds)
Same hand-carved ice construction as the single-bed regular suite, configured for two beds. Good for couples who want separate sleeping bags or small families. All the same base inclusions apply.

The family configuration sleeps up to 6 people across three beds. Same carved ice structure as the other regular rooms. The package pairs with a 2-bed room at Hôtel Valcartier for overflow or morning showers.

Each themed suite is a full sculptural commission: the walls, ceiling arches, and decor are carved to reflect that year's theme. Soft ambient lighting plays off the ice surfaces. The artistic detail steps up significantly from regular rooms — you can see the difference in a photo.

Two-bed version of the themed suite, with the same elaborate hand-carved sculptural decor. Better for couples who prefer separate sleeping setups or small friend groups.

Theme suite with the addition of a specially designed fireplace. Yes, an actual fireplace inside an ice room. The fire doesn't melt the walls — it's engineered for the purpose — and the interplay of warm flickering light against carved ice surfaces is the main event here. Very popular for anniversaries.

The resort's indoor waterpark, open year-round (some weekday closures apply). Accessible via resort packages and season passes. Not specific to Hôtel de Glace but co-located on property.
Team-building events including guided tours, watching sculptors at work, and hands-on ice sculpting workshops. Group dining and private Ice Bar sections also available for corporate bookings.
Day access to explore the Grand Hall, themed suites, ice chapel, Grand Slide, and Ice Bar. Daytime visits run until 8 p.m., after which suites are reserved for overnight guests. Tickets available online (discounted) or at the gate.
Three exclusive cultural days per season in collaboration with Tourisme Wendake and Tourisme Autochtone Québec. The Grand Hall features a section dedicated to Wendat culture, and a traditional 20x60-foot Shaputuan tent is installed outside the hotel as a warming shelter and cultural space.
The Hôtel de Glace's ice chapel is listed among the world's top ten dream wedding destinations. Walls, altar, and pews are all carved from ice. Couples from around the world book it each season.

North America's largest snow park, co-located with the Hôtel de Glace at Valcartier. Multiple tubing hills with a lift-assisted return, ranging from easy beginner runs to high-speed tracks including the Himalayan (up to 80 km/h). Groups of 2–8 people per run.
