Hotel del Parque
Heritage boutique luxury. Republican colonial architecture, calm and intimate, with a genuine natural setting — birds calling, spider monkeys overhead, crocodiles in the adjacent wildlife sanctuary. Sophisticated but never stuffy.
The hotel is only 10 minutes from the airport, making it ideal for pre-Galapagos overnight stops
Why It Matters
One of the most singular hotel settings in Ecuador: a 19th-century building moved board-by-board into a protected botanical park on the Daule River. Relais & Châteaux member. Green Globe certified. Casa Julián is consistently cited as one of Ecuador's best restaurants. Guests can walk the wildlife sanctuary even when it's closed to the public.
A 44-room, 5-star boutique hotel occupying a faithfully restored late-19th-century Republican-era building set inside Guayaquil's Parque Histórico botanical gardens. The building — originally a hospice founded in 1891 — was physically relocated piece by piece from the city center to its current riverside spot in the 1980s, then meticulously renovated and opened as a hotel in December 2016. Interiors by designer Julio Vinueza blend cool grey-and-yellow palettes with Ecuadorian-made furniture and marble bathrooms. Its restaurant Casa Julián has made the Latin America's 50 Best list, and the spa sits inside a Gothic chapel's original wooden bell tower with 360° garden views.
