Why It Matters
One of the more architecturally interesting properties in the Hotel du Vin portfolio — the mock Tudor and Gothic revival buildings were erected by a wine merchant and retain a seriously eccentric character. The double-helix carved staircase and gargoyle-adorned facade are not things you'll see at a standard city hotel. An on-site sommelier and extensive wine cellars mean the wine program is the real deal, not just branding.
Hotel du Vin Brighton occupies a cluster of striking Gothic revival and mock Tudor buildings in The Lanes — Brighton's oldest quarter — dating back to 1615, originally built by a wine merchant on the site of an old inn. The result is 49 individually designed rooms spread across a genuinely unusual set of structures: carved staircases, gargoyles, exposed wooden beams, and a double-height entrance hall that now houses the wine bar. It's a proper character hotel, not a polished corporate box.

En-suite bathroom comes either with shower only, shower over bath, or in some cases a freestanding bath with a separate shower. Good for business or a leisure visit where you want more flexibility than the Cosy but don't need suite-level space.

Cosy Room
The entry-level room and it is genuinely snug. Queen bed, en-suite bathroom with shower only (occasionally shower over bath), desk and chair, flatscreen TV, free WiFi. Good for a solo traveller or a one-night stopover, but don't expect to spread out. Note: no Nespresso machine at this category, and some bathrooms have no windows.

Deluxe Room
Noticeably more space than the Classic, with a Queen or King bed and room to actually use it. Some rooms have freestanding roll-top baths, walk-in showers, and a couch or armchair. The first tier where the hotel's signature bath aesthetic properly shows up. Extra beds for children aged 3-14 available in Deluxe and above at £30 per night.
Queen or KingJunior Suite
Open-plan layout with two distinct Junior Suites, each with its own personality. The roll-top bath sits in the bedroom itself — a signature Hotel du Vin move. King bed, two-seater sofa, monsoon shower, bathrobe and slippers, and upgraded toiletries. A solid choice if you want suite comforts without going full suite price.
KingSea View Suite
Essentially the standard Suite with one big upgrade: actual sea views, twin roll-top baths in the bedroom, and a telescope. The telescope is a nice touch — the views are worth pointing it at. King bed, separate shower, full suite amenities including bathrobe, slippers, Nespresso, and ottoman couch.
KingSignature Suite
The top of the range. A loft suite with exposed wooden beams, hardwood floors, and an Emperor bed — larger than a standard Super King. Twin roll-top baths and twin monsoon showers in the same space. Large sofa area and, the standout: a small private roof terrace with side sea views and sea breeze. The room a Tripadvisor reviewer called 'a WOW type room' and meant it.
EmperorSuite
Spacious suites with a separate lounge area and King bed. Each one is unique — some have original feature fireplaces, which adds real weight to the character. Freestanding roll-top bath, monsoon shower (some rooms have twin showers), bathrobe, slippers, and premium toiletries throughout.
