Sitting at 1,050+ meters on the Alishan mountain range, Hotel Indigo Alishan is Taiwan's highest-elevation international boutique hotel — and the only international brand operating inside the Alishan scenic area. The 84-room property was designed by Steven Leach Group and MOD Singapore over a 10-year project, pulling heavily from Tsou indigenous culture: bamboo in the lobby, millet motifs in the restaurant, and bird and animal symbols throughout. Every room has a private balcony, and the rooftop holds an infinity paddling pool, jacuzzi, fire pit, and bar where you can watch the sunrise break over the sea of clouds. Fair warning: the hotel is about 38km from Alishan National Forest Recreation Area itself — you'll need the complimentary shuttle to get there.
