The Old Kleparz market across the street supplies the restaurant's kitchen — worth a browse in the morning before it winds down

Why It Matters

Won IHG's Torchbearer Award (given to fewer than 1% of IHG properties), first place in the Interior Design Awards, and earned consecutive Michelin Guide listings for its restaurant. It's the first Hotel Indigo to open in Poland. Standard rooms are on the small side (13–21 sqm), but the suite hits 45 sqm.

A 56-room boutique hotel in a 19th-century tenement building right next to the Old Kleparz food market — one of Krakow's oldest. The whole place is built around Polish art history: rooms are individually designed and named after three Polish masters (Matejko, Wyspiański, Nowosielski), with each floor shifting visual style from florid historicism to moody abstraction. The on-site restaurant, Filipa 18, earned Michelin Guide recognition in both 2023 and 2024.

5 room types available

Matejko Premium Room

Matejko Premium Room

A step up within the Matejko category — more space and, in some configurations, twin beds. Still on the lower floors with the same historicist color palette, but the extra square footage makes a real difference. Size runs 17–29 sqm.

2 Single Beds or 1 King Bed · 23 sqm

Matejko Standard Room
Standard

Matejko Standard Room

Located on the first two floors, Matejko rooms lean into Jan Matejko's bold historicism: intensive colors, rich textures, and a sense of 19th-century bourgeois grandeur. Matejko was Krakow's most prominent history painter and co-founder of the neighboring Academy of Fine Arts — his influence comes through in the warm palette and decorative detail. On the smaller side at 13–21 sqm.

Nowosielski Room
Standard / Premium

Nowosielski Room

The top two floors take a sharp stylistic turn toward abstraction. Jerzy Nowosielski — one of the most important Polish painters of the late 20th century — worked in near-monochrome, Byzantine-influenced abstraction. These rooms are noticeably more restrained and modern than the lower floors: fewer colors, cleaner lines, a cooler atmosphere overall.

One Bedroom Suite

The only suite category, at a generous 45 sqm. Located on the upper Nowosielski floors with the same abstract, pared-back palette. King bed, more living space, and all the standard room amenities. If you're going to splurge anywhere in this hotel, this is where the extra space actually makes sense.

Wyspiański Room
Standard / Premium

Wyspiański Room

Third-floor rooms themed around Stanisław Wyspiański — the versatile Young Poland artist known for stained glass, portraits, and theatrical design. These rooms mix multiple textures and colors to create that distinctive turn-of-century atmosphere. Wyspiański painted with bold color spots outlined in visible contour, and that influence comes through in the layered, somewhat maximalist interior.
