The hotel was designed by Bangkok firm P49 Deesign as a modern 'post house' along that legendary trade route — horse saddle stools in the lobby, caravan trunk storage in the rooms, murals of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain painted across the walls. It is the first upscale boutique hotel to open inside Lijiang Old Town itself, with 68 rooms spread across traditional Naxi-style buildings arranged around peaceful landscaped courtyards.
