Hotel Indy
Brutalist exterior meets mid-century modern interior. Bold colors, local Indy icons honored throughout (Kurt Vonnegut, Madame C.J. Walker, James Dean), a 200-year Indiana history mural by local Black artist Derrick Carter, and custom-designed furniture and carpets by ESG Architecture. Edgy and community-rooted — not a generic downtown hotel.

Why It Matters
The only Marriott Tribute Portfolio in Indiana. One of just six Brutalist-converted hotels in the world. A genuinely locally flavored boutique in the heart of downtown Indy, with a celebrated chef (Henri Najem) running the restaurant and a rooftop bar that gets real foot traffic from locals, not just hotel guests.
Hotel Indy is a 90-room boutique hotel inside a 1969 Brutalist office building — the former State Life Insurance Company headquarters — that developer KennMar converted into a Marriott Tribute Portfolio property. The raw concrete cube exterior is preserved and celebrated, while inside you get rounded corners, mid-century modern furniture, local artwork, and floor-to-ceiling windows doing their best to soften the bones. It's the only Tribute Portfolio property in Indiana, and it earns that distinction: the design is intentional, the dining is legitimately good, and the 6th-floor rooftop lounge is a proper draw.

How you'll actually spend your days.
The lobby doubles as a social gathering space with velvet and leather couches, a fireplace, and the Brandon Coffee Bar. Good for informal meetings or simply settling in.
On-site fitness center equipped with True brand equipment. Open to guests. No classes listed, though the Marriott brand page notes fitness classes may be available.
The hotel functions as a de facto art gallery. A lobby hallway piece by Kendra Moore, a sweeping 200-year Indiana history mural by local Black artist Derrick Carter, room art curated by Soho Myriad, and images and references to Indy icons like Kurt Vonnegut, Carole Lombard, David Letterman, Wes Montgomery, and Madame C.J. Walker are woven throughout the property. No guide needed — just walk the corridors.
Two meeting rooms on the lower level. Icon (752 sq ft) honors Indy icons like Madame C.J. Walker and Major Taylor. Rebel (394 sq ft) is named for figures like Steve McQueen and James Dean — good for board meetings. Buyouts of Fire by Henri Najem and ELEVATE also available for private events. Total indoor meeting space: approximately 1,500 sq ft plus outdoor patio.
