Why It Matters
Prague's first ever Design Hotels member, designed by Eva Jiřičná — often called the first lady of glass architecture. The in-house French-style bakery, complimentary non-alcoholic minibar, rooftop gym with an Olympic barbell setup and sauna, and a personal trainer who holds two Guinness World Records all set it apart from the standard Old Town hotel.
Hotel Josef opened in 2002 as Prague's first Design Hotels member — and it earned that distinction properly. Eva Jiřičná's building sits on a quiet back street in Josefov, the former Jewish quarter, flanked by Art Nouveau facades. Step inside and the vibe shifts entirely: glass, steel, limestone, clean lines, and Flos light sculptures throughout. Two decades of careful remodelings have kept it sharp without abandoning the original vision. The bakery alone is worth writing home about.

QueenMini Rooms
The entry-level room — and it is genuinely small at 14 sqm. But the design is doing heavy lifting: limestone bathroom, a Moustache chair, Flos lighting, and a warm red custom lamp that turns the tight space into something intentional rather than just compact. Located in the quiet south building. Best for solo travelers or couples who care more about location and design than elbow room.
