Hotel Kinsley
Design-forward, historically grounded, community-connected. Not precious — it welcomes dogs and locals at the bar in equal measure.

Why It Matters
One of the few multi-building boutique hotels in the Hudson Valley with serious design credentials (Design Hotels member, interiors by Studio Robert McKinley), a restaurant worth driving up for on its own, and a location one block from Kingston's historic Four Corners — the only intersection in America where all four corner buildings predate the Revolutionary War.
Hotel Kinsley is a 42-room boutique hotel spread across four architecturally distinct historic buildings in Kingston, NY's Uptown Stockade District — a former State Bank of New York, a circa-1680s Georgian limestone home, an 1870s mercantile building, and a pre-Revolutionary War cottage. Interior designer Robert McKinley ran the creative playbook: Farrow & Ball paints, Turkish and Indo-Moroccan wool rugs, Frette linens, Carrara marble bathrooms, and European fabric imports from Dedar and Pierre Frey. The result feels more like staying in a very well-appointed friend's townhouse than a hotel. Kingston itself is 95 miles up the Hudson from Manhattan and is having a real moment — galleries, farm-to-table restaurants, and independent shops filling a genuinely gorgeous historic streetscape.
