Hotel Le Fontanelle
Refined rustic Italian luxury. Warm earth tones, terracotta, oak beams — everything feels genuinely old, not faked. Quiet, calm, unhurried. The kind of place where you lose track of time and forget to check your phone.

Why It Matters
Owned and operated by the Bolfo family as part of their Fontanelle Estate group — which also includes Hotel The Club House and the Vallepicciola winery. It's a genuine family estate, not a corporate flag plant. The hotel is a Michelin Guide selection, a Tablet Hotels member, and affiliated with Virtuoso and Serandipians. Open seasonally April through October only.
A 13th-century stone farmhouse perched on a Chianti hilltop, Hotel Le Fontanelle opened in 2006 after a seven-year renovation led by the Bolfo family, who were meticulous about preserving the massive stone exterior, regional timber, and terracotta floors. Lush terraced lawns, bougainvillea-draped walls, herb gardens, and a panoramic outdoor pool looking out over rolling vineyards make the setting feel effortlessly cinematic. And the scale is intimate: 36 rooms across five categories, so it never tips into resort anonymity.
