Why It Matters
Built by the Lost Boys Hospitality Group (known for cult properties in Panama), Hotel Lilien brought genuine design credibility to the Catskills when it opened in 2022. It's been covered by Vogue, Condé Nast Traveler, Architectural Digest, and the New York Times. The bar is open to the public and functions as a genuine local gathering spot — rare for a boutique hotel of this caliber.
An 1890s Victorian mansion turned 22-room boutique hotel in Tannersville, New York, named for Meta Lilienthal — a 14-year-old girl who moved into this 19,000-square-foot summer estate in the 1890s. San Francisco design firm Field Theory spent over a year curating the place: antique Persian rugs, mid-century furniture, stained glass windows, wood-paneled walls with a century of patina, and a sprawling burl-wood bar. No TVs. That's intentional.

Deck King (Pet-Friendly)
Located behind the main house with private-entry access, these dog-friendly rooms open directly onto a private front deck with views of Plateau Mountain. The only room type where pets are allowed. Pet fee is $50/night for up to two pets.
KingDeck Queen + Bunk
A two-room bunk suite with a skylit queen bedroom and a separate bunk room equipped with one full and one twin bed. Sleeps up to four. Private entry and a side deck connect directly to the outdoors. Good pick for a small family or friend group that wants a bit of separation.

Double Queen
Two separate sleeping areas in a single room with one bathroom — designed for groups of four. Each queen occupies its own alcove, giving a bit of separation without needing two rooms.
Two QueensFull
The estate's original octagonal bedroom, adorned with wood-paneled walls. Ideal for one or two guests. One of the most architecturally distinctive rooms in the building thanks to that unusual eight-sided footprint.
FullKing
Spacious king rooms for two. Several configurations exist across the second and third floors — some with clawfoot tubs, some with four-poster beds, some with oversized showers. Each one is different, so it's worth asking at booking if you have a preference.
KingQueen
Newly renovated queen rooms for one or two guests. Each is unique in layout given the Victorian building's irregular floor plan. Expect antique Persian rugs, mid-century furniture, curated art, and Brooklinen sheets on a Wright mattress.
QueenSuite
The only true suite: a one-bedroom king with a full bathroom, a queen sleeper sofa, plus a kitchenette with mini-fridge, microwave, sink, tableware, and a dining table. A record player is included. Works well as a group hub for four or a comfortable long-stay setup.

An all-levels yoga class led by one of the Catskills' most prolific teachers, incorporating traditional asanas, breathwork, and meditation. Held at The Lodge with views of Plateau Mountain. Open to guests and the public.
Hotel Lilien's gear room stocks high-end snowshoes, sleds, backpacks, and walking sticks for guest use. All complimentary — just sign them out and head out.

A local New York state-licensed nature guide leads walks near the property on Saturday and Sunday mornings starting at 10am. Routes include the Huckleberry Trail, along Gooseberry Creek, to Rip Van Winkle Lane and back.
