Why It Matters
Named after Hélène Mercier, a 19th-century philanthropist whose community house once stood on this site. The building dates to 1891 and retains original architectural elements — gymnasium details visible in the restaurant, library-style lobby. Every guestroom features a bespoke handmade tapestry by Claes Iversen, a Dutch fashion designer and artist. On-site Bonboon is one of Amsterdam's standout vegan fine-dining destinations.
