Why It Matters
Poland's oldest continuously operating hotel. Guests have included Tsar Alexander I, Grand Duke Constantine, Napoleon's Persian emissary Mohamed Riza, Franz Liszt, and Honoré de Balzac. The subterranean spa — set in atmospheric, vaulted 14th-century cellars — is one of a kind in Krakow. The hotel is also the only place in Poland offering Sodashi organic treatments. Pod Różą — 'under the rose' — is Krakow's oldest hotel, operating from a four-storey Renaissance palace that once belonged to Prospero Provano, courtier to Queen Bona. The building dates to the 17th century; the portal still bears its original Latin inscription warning that the house will stand until the ant drinks all the ocean's water. After a thorough 2020 renovation, its 57 individually designed rooms and suites blend bespoke walnut-and-cherry furniture with noble stone bathrooms (Fior Di Bosco, Calacatta, Rosso Verona marble). Two restaurants, a Sodashi spa hidden in medieval vaulted cellars, and a wine collection of 300+ Italian vintages round things out — all within a 2-minute walk of Main Market Square.

Double Room Deluxe (Pokój Dwuosobowy Deluxe)
A step up from standard, with more generous proportions and refined design touches. Some feature Stellar Works sofas and bronze furniture detailing. A strong choice for couples wanting a bit more comfort without going full suite.
Double Room Standard (Pokój Dwuosobowy)
Standard double rooms, each individually designed. Comfortable double bed configuration with full marble bathrooms. The most plentiful room type in the hotel — 18 in total. Layout and exact size vary due to the building's Renaissance architecture.
Family Room (Pokój Rodzinny)
Designed to accommodate families with children. Larger footprint than standard rooms. Children up to 3 stay free in a cot; children 4–17 pay 150 PLN per night in an extra bed (on request).
Junior Suite
One of three junior suites in the hotel. Larger living space with high ceilings and a more pronounced antique character. Marble bathroom typically features both a walk-in shower and bathtub. L'Occitane amenities, robes, and slippers as standard.
Luxury Apartment (Apartament Luksusowy)
The top-tier accommodation category. Four luxury apartments with the most generous footprints in the hotel. Bespoke furniture, premium marble bathrooms with both shower and bathtub, and the most refined finishes. Some offer views of St. Mary's Basilica.
Luxury Family Apartment (Rodzinny Apartament Luksusowy)
A luxury-grade apartment configured for families. Combines the space and finish of the luxury apartments with family-friendly capacity for extra beds or cots.
Single Room (Pokój Jednoosobowy)
Individually designed single rooms with bespoke furniture in Polish walnut and cherry wood. Marble bathrooms with heated floors and Italian fittings. Some overlook Floriańska Street (Royal Route views), others face the quieter St. Thomas Street side.
Standard Suite (Apartament Standard)
Full suite with separate bedroom and living room. Antique character is more pronounced here — expect parquet flooring, high ceilings, and ornate details alongside all modern luxury-hotel comforts.
Twin Room (Pokój Dwuosobowy Typu Twin)
Two-bed configuration in the same individually designed style as the double rooms. Good for colleagues or friends travelling together. Full marble bathroom included.
