Book the Berones suite for views of the church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción directly from bed — you can watch the storks build their nests on the bell tower

Why It Matters

The only Michelin Key hotel in La Rioja. Genuine family passion project by owner Javier Ruiz, who bought a derelict 16th-century manor and spent six years restoring it with Riojan architect Ignacio Quemada and interior designer Isabel López Villalta & Asociados. Winner of the 2023 Great Wine Capitals Best of Wine Tourism Award in the Accommodation category. Restaurant Allegar is listed in both the Michelin Guide and the Repsol Guide.

A 16-room luxury boutique hotel occupying a restored 16th-century civil manor house in the medieval village of Briones, deep in La Rioja Alta wine country. Opened in 2022 after a six-year renovation that preserved original stone walls and a 13th-century defensive wall, which now wraps around the hotel's inner courtyard. The only property in La Rioja to hold a Michelin Key designation — and that's not a coincidence. The food here, at chef Juan Cuesta's Allegar restaurant, is the real deal.
