Built in 1878 as a sanatorium — and the mountain air is still the point — this bijou Art Nouveau grand hotel sits directly on the shores of the impossibly turquoise Blausee lake, inside a car-free 22-hectare nature park in the Bernese Oberland. 21 individually decorated rooms range from cozy 15 sqm singles to adults-only standalone forest cabins. The Gault&Millau-rated restaurant (13 points) leans hard on organic trout farmed right here on-site, and hotel guests get the spa and nature park entirely for free.

Located in a separate chalet building, these three suites step up the experience considerably: 30 sqm with alpine-chic furnishings, a private balcony with direct lake views, bathtub and shower, Nespresso machine and TV. The balcony over the Blausee is the real draw.

Double Room Mountain

Forest House Adults Only
The newest and most distinctive option: three separate standalone houses (Waldhaus 701, Steinhaus 702, Mooshaus 703) set in the forest within the nature park. Each is a fully independent 30 sqm unit with a Swedish log stove, minibar, Nespresso, private terrace, and parquet floors. Adults only, maximum two guests. Children and extra persons simply cannot stay here — the hotel is firm on this.

Junior Suite Mountain
30 sqm suite in the main building with a proper sitting area, sofa bed, parquet floors and mountain views. More breathing room than the standard doubles, still in the historic 1878 structure.

The hotel has no lift. Upper floors are accessible by stairs only. Important for guests with mobility considerations.
Multiple event spaces: Grandezza Room (up to 100 guests), Art Nouveau restaurant (up to 50 guests), library (up to 24 guests). The terrace and entire park can also be used for events.
Art Nouveau lounge with open fireplace, wines, cocktails and light snacks.

Day visitors pay an entry fee to the 22-hectare nature park; hotel guests enter free throughout their stay.
