Why It Matters
One of Switzerland's most awarded 4-star superior hotels and a Relais & Châteaux member since 1993. Ranked 2nd most romantic hotel in Switzerland (2025). Built originally as Hotel Palace in 1905–1907 and famously visited by Lenin in 1917. The in-house 'Walther Culinarium' comprises four distinct dining experiences — from the Art Nouveau Grand Restaurant to fondue served inside a repurposed cable car gondola.
A Belle Époque grand hotel built in 1907, now run by the third generation of the Walther family. The Art Nouveau building got a full ground-floor redesign in 2017 that brought original architectural details back to life — think restored stucco ceilings, regional craftsmanship, and contemporary art alongside timeless design classics. Seventy rooms and suites, four dining concepts, the Aqua Viva spa, padel and tennis courts, and a private park all sit in the centre of Pontresina at 1,800 meters above sea level, right at the foot of the Bernina Massif.
