Hu. Hotel
Upscale boutique with a strong Memphis music and culture identity. Bold contemporary colors against cream and grey backdrops. A grand piano in the lobby, brass instrument paintings on walls, and Beale Street energy just blocks away.
Request a room on floor 15 or higher for bridge views — the Hernando DeSoto Bridge puts on a light show at the top and middle of every hour at sundown.
Why It Matters
The only major boutique hotel in Memphis set inside a landmark historic bank building. The underground vault gym is genuinely one of a kind. Hu. Roof is routinely cited as one of the best rooftop bars in America for its Mississippi River and Hernando de Soto Bridge views. Owned by Aparium Hotel Group, which has a track record of thoughtful adaptive reuse properties in mid-market American cities.
A 1905 Beaux-Arts bank building turned 110-room boutique hotel in the heart of downtown Memphis. The former Tennessee Trust Bank building — one of the city's first skyscrapers — keeps its heritage front and center: ornate tiled floors in the foyer, double-height lobby windows, and a fitness center set inside the original underground bank vault. Named after Hugh 'Hu.' Lawson White Brinkley, a larger-than-life Memphian who was equal parts businessman and wellness pioneer, the hotel leans into that character with bold colors, music-themed decor, and album covers in the elevators.

How you'll actually spend your days.
The hotel's gym is set inside the original underground bank vault from 1905 — easily the most interesting place in Memphis to do cardio. Full fitness equipment available 24 hours.
The rooftop hosts DJ nights on a rotating basis (reported as every other Friday) and occasional live music. Check the hotel's events calendar or Instagram for current programming.
Over 2,000 sq ft of flexible indoor/outdoor meeting and event space, including a ballroom, mezzanine, and two boardrooms. The hotel actively hosts weddings, corporate events, and private dining. The rooftop can also be taken over for private events.
The Hernando DeSoto Bridge's #mightylights display is visible directly from Hu. Roof. The show runs at the top and middle of every hour at sundown, making sunset at the rooftop bar a legitimate event.
