Regency Addis Ababa
Polished urban business hotel with a genuine cultural soul. Modern, light-filled interiors with local artwork throughout. Warmer and more personal than most chain hotels of its size.
Book a Garden View room or higher to get the balcony overlooking the central courtyard rather than a city-facing room.
Why It Matters
The first Hyatt in Ethiopia. Since December 2024, it is also the new home of Fendika — a Prince Claus Award-winning Ethiopian cultural center whose original Kazanchis compound was demolished. Fendika@Hyatt brings live traditional music, Eskista dance, and azmari performers directly into the hotel several nights a week, which is genuinely unusual for a Hyatt Regency anywhere in the world.
The first Hyatt to open in Ethiopia, this 188-room property sits directly on Meskel Square in the heart of Addis Ababa. Rooms are clean and well-appointed — though the standard 24 sqm options are genuinely compact — and the heated outdoor infinity pool, full spa, and on-site Fendika cultural center make it feel like considerably more than a standard business address. Government buildings, the UN Conference Centre, and Bole International Airport (about 15 minutes away) are all close, which is why the lobby fills with diplomats, NGO workers, and African Union delegates.

How you'll actually spend your days.
Full gym on the 1st floor with treadmills, ellipticals, cycling machines, cardio equipment, and dumbbells. Available around the clock — useful for early departures or late arrivals.
Freshly brewed Ethiopian coffee served in the lobby and at The Market. Ethiopia is the birthplace of coffee and the hotel leans into this at multiple venues, including the coffee-flavored cocktails at Cascara.
Evening performances of traditional Ethiopian music (krar, masinko, kebero drums), Eskista dance, and azmari poetry, hosted by the relocated Fendika Cultural Center. Runs multiple evenings per week. Open to hotel guests and the public. A 2020 Prince Claus Award laureate institution.
Heated outdoor infinity pool on the 1st floor overlooking the central courtyard garden. Especially appreciated during Addis Ababa's cooler season. Pool bar access on-site.
