Why It Matters
Kengo Kuma's only hotel design in Beijing, drawing on the 'return to nature' philosophy with a bamboo-forest lobby and a building literally sandwiched between two parks. The dining lineup is unusually deep for a business hotel: a Shandong fine-dining room, an izakaya with a cypress sushi counter, and a live-band cocktail bar all under one roof.
Opened in 2018, this is the first Hyatt Regency in Beijing — and one of the most design-forward business hotels in the city. Designed by acclaimed Japanese architect Kengo Kuma, the property draws on the traditional Chinese 'Sanheyuan' courtyard concept, threading bamboo groves, slotted wood screens, and indoor gardens through a 348-room tower that sits between two parks in Wangjing's newer CBD. Every standard room starts at a generous 39 sqm with floor-to-ceiling windows, deep soaking tubs, and rainfall showers — plus a Simmons Beautyrest and a nine-pillow menu. Five distinct dining venues, a proper 25-meter indoor pool, and live music nightly at The Music Bar make it punchy for a business hotel.
