Il Borro
Rustic grandeur meets working farmstead. Think exposed wooden beams, terracotta floors, stone alleys — but with Technogym equipment in the spa and marble bathrooms. The atmosphere is genuinely agricultural: horses roam, harvests happen, artisans work. It's not a resort pretending to be a farm; it's a farm that also happens to have exceptional hospitality.

Why It Matters
Il Borro holds 2 Michelin Keys (2025) and is a Relais & Châteaux member. Few properties in Italy combine a genuinely operational organic estate at this scale with the Ferragamo family's design sensibility and a fully restored functioning medieval village. The estate spans 1,100 organic hectares — one of the largest in Tuscany — with its own winery producing 12 labels (all organic since 2015), 85 hectares of vineyards, 40 hectares of olive groves, and active artisan workshops in the borgo.
Il Borro is a thousand-year-old Tuscan hamlet sitting at the center of a 1,100-hectare organic estate, owned since 1993 by the Ferragamo family. Ferruccio Ferragamo bought the whole thing — medieval village, vineyards, olive groves, farmland — and spent decades restoring it into a Relais & Châteaux property that functions equally as a luxury hotel, a working winery, and an organic farm. The estate produces 12 wine labels, presses its own olive oil, grows seasonal vegetables, and feeds much of it directly into two on-site restaurants under Executive Chef Andrea Campani.
