Why It Matters
The first hotel in Freistadt to earn a Michelin Key (2025). Its signature glass-bottomed SKY Pool at 36 meters is genuinely unusual for a mid-sized Austrian market town. Freistadt's first 4-star hotel, which opened in September 2023, is doing something genuinely different. The FREIGOLD is a tall, sleek city spa tower built around a concept they call 'selfness' — part wellness, part personal-growth playground. You get the SKY Pool floating 36 meters above the rooftops, a 9,000 m² wellness garden with a natural swimming pond, and a SKY Restaurant serving a 10-dish vegetarian sharing menu. But there's also yoga, fitness boxing, bread-baking workshops, and a gamified 10-Smiley Challenge that rewards you for leaving your comfort zone. Adults only. No kids, no pets.

The base room at FREIGOLD — 30 square meters of warm-toned minimalism with hardwood floors, a comfortable sitting nook, and a balcony looking out over Freistadt. Not huge, but well thought out. Bathroom has a shower and a separate WC. Minibar, safe, TV, and radio included.

Deluxe Room Plus
Same 30 m² footprint as the standard Deluxe Room, but with a pullout couch that accommodates a third person. Can be booked as a connecting room with an adjacent Deluxe Room Plus — useful for groups. Same hardwood floors, balcony, separate WC, minibar, and safe.

At 60 m², these top-floor suites are proper. Freestanding bathtub alongside a walk-in shower, a separate living room with a pullout sofa for a third guest, two TVs, a coffee machine, and — genuinely — an indoor swing. The panoramic view over Freistadt from these upper floors is the best in the building.
