Why It Matters
The only Forbes Four-Star hotel and restaurant on Maryland's Eastern Shore. The Pete Dye golf course (Links at Perry Cabin) was his final design. The working sailing fleet — ranging from a 1902 Skipjack to a Hinckley motor yacht — is genuinely usable, not just decorative. And the spa incorporates herbs actually grown on the Inn's own grounds.
A white Colonial manor house sitting on the banks of the Miles River in St. Michaels, Maryland, originally built in 1816 by War of 1812 Navy veteran Samuel Hambleton. Private 30-minute lesson with a Links PGA staff member, followed by a round of 9-hole play. Available Monday–Friday. Price: $275 per person. Club rentals available.
An 18-hole course designed by Pete and Alice Dye — reportedly Dye's final design. Features devilish bunkers, a Biarritz hole, an island green, and a finishing stretch with Chesapeake Bay views.
