Chengdu Global Center
Mediterranean-themed indoor resort with ocean and family focus. Think cruise ship meets luxury hotel — massive, theatrical, and deliberately playful. Not for minimalists.
Book a Club room to get access to Club Lounge — the quiet breakfast and evening cocktail hour is worth it given how hectic the main café can get
Why It Matters
Located inside the world's largest monolithic building; features wildly popular themed rooms (Princess, Ocean, Car, Family); guest rooms have direct balcony views over the indoor water park; named Best Hotel in China by Condé Nast Traveler; selected by both Michelin Guide and Tablet Hotels. There are also two dedicated Mahjong rooms, which tells you something about the priorities here.
This is not a subtle hotel. The InterContinental Chengdu Global Center sits inside the New Century Global Center — the world's largest standalone building — a glass-and-steel colossus that houses a full shopping mall, an indoor waterpark with a 500-meter artificial coastline, and an indoor beach, all under one roof. The 975 ocean-themed rooms wrap around the Paradise Island Water Park, every balcony staring down at waves, slides, and a 150-meter LED backdrop that mimics an open sky. Kids absolutely love it. Adults do too, once they get over the scale of the thing.

How you'll actually spend your days.
A Cuba Live Band performs at the Lobby Bar in the afternoon and then moves to ADD restaurant in the evenings. Runs as an ongoing event with no fixed end date — a fun, unexpected touch in a Chinese resort hotel.
A full gym running 8am–10pm daily with treadmills, elliptical machines, stationary bikes, free weights, rower, and stair stepper. Both an aerobics instructor and sports trainer are available on-site — useful if you actually want guided workouts.
Hot spring public baths within the water park complex, plus steam room access. Part of the water park offer.
Two dedicated Mahjong rooms — one a shared lobby space, one a private room. Legitimately rare in a luxury hotel outside China. A nice nod to local culture and a big hit with domestic guests.
A massive indoor water park with a 500-meter artificial coastline, indoor beach, water slides, a fisherman's wharf section, and hot springs — all under a spectacular 150-meter LED sky backdrop. Access is included for hotel guests. On weekends this place fills up fast, especially during school holidays.
A heated semi-outdoor pool with lifeguard on duty, poolside lounge chairs, towel service, and umbrellas. Open daily 8am–10pm. Children's pool section also available.
