Why It Matters
The only five-star resort on Dominica — the 'Nature Island' — a destination that has stayed almost entirely off the mainstream Caribbean circuit. Originally opened as a Kempinski property, it was converted to InterContinental under IHG in 2023. The setting inside an active national park, with a volcanic beach right outside the door and one of the Caribbean's most intact rainforests as the backdrop, makes it a genuinely rare combination of luxury and wild nature.
The only full-scale luxury resort on Dominica, the InterContinental Dominica Cabrits sits right on Douglas Bay inside Cabrits National Park — an active volcanic peninsula on the island's northwest tip. Think 151 rooms spread across rainforest-flanked buildings, four pools, a spa set in treehouse-style bungalows, and a black-sand beach.
