Why It Matters

Indianapolis's first luxury hotel opening in nearly 20 years. The only Penthouse Suite and largest Presidential Suite in the city. Features the city's first rooftop bar with direct views of Monument Circle. Entire art collection was commissioned from Indiana-based artists.

The InterContinental Indianapolis opened in February 2025 inside the 100-year-old Illinois Building, completing a $120 million restoration that turned a once-endangered landmark into downtown Indy's first true luxury hotel in nearly two decades. The 1925 granite-and-limestone facade is all original; inside, bespoke Murano chandeliers, a three-story hand-blown glass chandelier, Italian marble, and a commissioned art program featuring exclusively Indiana-tied artists make the public spaces genuinely worth stopping in even if you're not staying.
