The InterContinental Indianapolis opened in February 2025 inside the 100-year-old Illinois Building, completing a $120 million restoration that turned a once-endangered landmark into downtown Indy's first true luxury hotel in nearly two decades. The 1925 granite-and-limestone facade is all original; inside, bespoke Murano chandeliers, a three-story hand-blown glass chandelier, Italian marble, and a commissioned art program featuring exclusively Indiana-tied artists make the public spaces genuinely worth stopping in even if you're not staying.

At 750–760 sq ft, this is the first suite category with a fully separate bedroom and living room. The TPG reviewer stayed here and noted a spacious living room with wet bar, velvet couch, armchair, small desk, and motorized privacy/blackout shades. The en-suite bathroom is large enough for a walk-in shower, a separate soaking tub, and dual sinks — plus a half bath off the living room. Views of the Indiana Statehouse available.

The only Penthouse Suite in Indianapolis at 1,545 sq ft, on a private floor with its own private elevator. Floor-to-ceiling views of the city skyline and Monument Circle. Features an intimate dining space for 8–10 guests — usable for private dinners or executive entertaining. The bathroom includes a deep soaking tub. The hotel cites this as the city's most exclusive accommodation, and it's not wrong.

Nearly every piece of art in the hotel was commissioned specifically for the property from artists with strong Indiana ties. Highlights include a portrait of David Letterman made entirely from floppy discs by Taylor Smith. The hotel's public spaces double as a gallery worth wandering.
The rooftop bar features a rotating lineup of DJs on Friday and Saturday nights. The vibe goes from cocktail-bar-with-views to proper nightlife destination as the evening progresses.
The hotel's amenities page highlights Brickyard Crossing Golf Course — 18 holes, four of which run inside the iconic Indianapolis Motor Speedway track. About a 30-minute drive from the hotel.
