The building started as a monastery, was converted into a private palace in the 1800s, and has been meticulously restored: marble lobbies, chandeliers, gallery-like corridors, and high ceilings throughout. Ground-floor jewellery boutiques occupy the original arcade. No pool, and some street-facing rooms pick up square noise late at night, but the location is genuinely unbeatable for a walkable city break.
