The name 'IRAPH' comes from the ancient name for Irabu Island meaning 'beautifully-colored' — and the property leans hard into that identity. IRAPH SUI sits on the southern tip of Irabu Island, about 300 kilometers southwest of Okinawa's main island — which is to say, genuinely remote. The island is connected to Miyakojima by the Irabu Ohashi Bridge, Japan's longest toll-free bridge, but getting here still requires a flight to either Miyako Airport or Shimojishima Airport (the latter just 4.9km away). The hotel opened in January 2019 as the third Luxury Collection property in Japan, owned by Mori Trust. Its 58 rooms face coral-reef waters in shades locals call 'Irabu Blue,' and interiors weave in Minsah textile motifs — the traditional Okinawan craft inspired by surrounding reefs.
