Jimbaran Puri
Barefoot luxury. Deeply Balinese in design and spirit — think traditional Hindu shrines dotted through the gardens, daily ritual offerings by staff, and an on-site temple available for morning prayer. Lush and serene, not flashy.
Ask for a Beach View Cottage Suite rather than Garden View — the glimpses of Jimbaran Bay from the sundeck are worth it
Why It Matters
Part of the Belmond portfolio (now owned by LVMH), Jimbaran Puri offers something increasingly rare in south Bali: a genuinely beachfront resort where every room is a private standalone cottage or villa, not a tower block. The Beach Spa's open-air ocean-view gazebos are a standout, and the fish-market-to-cooking-class experience with Executive Chef Adi is a legitimate highlight.
Jimbaran Puri sits directly on the sand at Jimbaran Bay, one of Bali's calmer, more refined stretches of beach. The resort is made up of 64 individual stand-alone cottages and villas, all built in classic Balinese style — thatched alang-alang roofs, teak wood, marble floors, and lily ponds weaving between the buildings. Here is the thing about the location: it's just 10 minutes from Ngurah Rai Airport, which sounds like a downside but is actually a huge plus. You're deep in tropical paradise within minutes of landing.

On Property
How you'll actually spend your days.
Concierge-arranged full-day excursion to either eastern Bali (volcanoes, Tenganan village batik, Tirta Gangga healing waters) or western Bali (emerald rice paddies, Pura Bratan water temple at Lake Beratan).
A dedicated program for kids including kite making, egg painting, sandcastle building, non-motorised water sports, and tailored spa treatments. Activities change daily. Children's menus available at all restaurants, and chefs tailor dishes to order.
Every Tuesday and Friday, a talented third-generation Balinese egg painter demonstrates this ancient and incredibly delicate art form — painting detailed scenes on different egg shell types. Completely absorbing to watch.
Head to the morning fish market with the chef to pick your own catch, then return for a light breakfast before a hands-on cooking class. Executive Chef Adi guides guests through regional Balinese recipes, after which you feast on what you made. Alternatively, skip the class and go straight to lunch.
Step aboard the resort's Dedari boat for a two-hour cruise to either Balangan Beach (departs 11am) or Uluwatu Temple (departs 4pm, a Bali icon). Maximum six guests per trip. The captain leads a traditional Balinese blessing ceremony on board.
Gather in the resort gardens at first light to visit the on-site Balinese Hindu temple. Dress in traditional island clothing provided by the hotel, experience the serenity of Balinese prayer, and present offerings at the shrine. Original temple remains are integrated throughout the resort's grounds.
Concierge can arrange surfing at Bali's best breaks, white-water rafting on jungle rapids, lake kayaking, and jungle hike-raft combos. Arrangements are off-site but organised through the hotel.
Regular yoga classes held in the hotel's lush gardens or on the beach, incorporating postures to harmonise body and mind. Tai Chi also offered. Private sessions and Tai Chi classes require advance booking and may incur an additional fee.
