Why It Matters
One of the very few resorts in the Caribbean that occupies an entirely private, car-free island accessible only by the hotel's own yacht. The Jumby Bay Hawksbill Turtle Project — the world's longest-running privately funded turtle conservation program, active since 1987 — is embedded in the resort experience. The entire island has been homeowner-owned since 1998, adding an unusually tight-knit residential community feel alongside the hotel operation.
A 300-acre private island two miles off Antigua's northeast coast, Jumby Bay is fully all-inclusive and car-free — you get around by bike or golf cart. The resort manages 40 cottages and suites alongside privately owned villas and estate homes, all under the Oetker Collection umbrella since 2017. The apex of the Jumby Bay experience. Sprawling 2–6 bedroom estate homes with private pools, dedicated on-site staff including butler, private chef, and housekeeper. Estates are individually owned and decorated — no two are the same. Some include tennis courts, gyms, or multiple pools. One estate (Pure Turquoise) has a private infinity pool over 18,000 sq ft. Spacious 2–4 bedroom villas scattered across the island — some beachfront, others with sea or garden views.
