JW Marriott Bucharest Grand Hotel
Grand, stately, old-school luxury with Communist-era bones and a serious business-hotel infrastructure. Think marble staircases, imposing cupolas, well-trained staff, and a surprising amount of genuine warmth. Not minimalist. Not boutique. This is full-fat, unapologetic luxury.
Bonvoy Platinum and above get complimentary Executive Lounge access — worth booking a room at that tier if you qualify, as the evening appetizers and breakfast are genuinely good
Why It Matters
The first JW Marriott in Europe, opened in 2000. It has the largest individual guest room footprints in Bucharest, a two-spa setup (THAIco Spa Grand for Asian treatments and World Class for gym/pool/fitness), and an on-site luxury shopping arcade. Directly adjacent to the Palace of Parliament.
Romania's first 5-star international hotel and the first JW Marriott to open in Europe, this is a genuinely imposing property that sits right next to the Palace of Parliament — the second-largest building in the world. Built in the 1980s as a satellite to that same urbanism plan, the hotel has serious bones: a soaring white marble lobby, grand staircases, and glass cupolas that flood the interior with natural light. Rooms are the largest in the city, starting at 35 sqm and going up to 150 sqm, and the hotel stacks up an unusual combination of seven dining venues, two wellness facilities, a casino, and a luxury shopping gallery with Rolex, Louis Vuitton, and Valentino. It leans heavily toward business and event travel — 12 meeting rooms, two ballrooms, up to 1,700 conference guests — but leisure travelers get the full package too.
