Why It Matters
Member of Design Hotels™, set in a complex originally built in 1825 as one of the Netherlands' first military police barracks. The gallery exhibitions rotate every four months and draw top names from the Dutch and international design world — including a major showcase during Dutch Design Week each October. Founders Annemoon Geurts and Koen Rijnbeek run both the cultural foundation and the hospitality operation under one roof.
Kazerne is a former 19th-century military barracks complex that has been turned into one of the Netherlands' most serious design destinations. Eight individually designed rooms and lofts sit inside the same building as a rotating 2,500-square-metre design gallery, two restaurants, a wine bar, a daytime café, and meeting spaces. You're not just sleeping in a cool hotel — you're temporarily living inside a curated exhibition.

How you'll actually spend your days.
Bicycle hire available for guests to explore Eindhoven and the surrounding area.
A 2,500 sqm rotating design exhibition space that changes shows every four months. The gallery features work by leading Dutch and international designers — including established names and emerging talent. The art in the guest rooms also changes in sync with the exhibitions. Entry to the general gallery is free and open to all visitors daily from 07:30.
An on-site design shop stocking works by designers featured in the gallery, alongside curated design objects. Open to all.
Each October (usually 9 days), Kazerne becomes an official Dutch Design Week venue, presenting over 40 leading designers. Hotel guests sleep inside the DDW exhibition. Entry to general public is €5 during DDW without a festival pass. The 2026 edition runs 17–25 October.
The complex offers multiple unique meeting and event spaces across the Kazerne buildings, accommodating groups from 2 to 400 people. The gallery and private dining areas can be privately booked for presentations, launches, and events.
A communal meet-up table within the Kazerne complex, designed for informal networking and creative gatherings with the Eindhoven design community.
Hotel guests get access to a private living room with a 24/7 honesty bar — a rare perk that makes the boutique nature of the property feel more like a private club than a hotel. Only for overnight guests.
