Kenai Peninsula Suites
Rustic-meets-bougie. Handcrafted Alaskan cabin character with upgraded linens, Smart TVs, and full kitchens. The kind of place couples and small families return to year after year.
The underground den suites (Grotto and Cove) have essentially no cell service — plan ahead if you're expecting important calls.
Why It Matters
One of the few Tablet Hotels properties in Alaska, and the only lodging of this type on the Homer bluffs. The underground den suites (The Grotto and The Cove) are genuinely unique architecture — entered via a spiral staircase from above ground, nearly soundproof, with grass roofs and full ocean views.
Five individually designed cabin suites perched on a 500-foot bluff above Kachemak Bay, just outside Homer, Alaska. The property — formerly Kenai Peninsula Suites, now rebranded as Seafarer at Cliffside — was renovated and upscaled in 2025. The cabins range from subterranean quonset-style dens to a two-story round log yurt. No restaurant, no room service, no concierge desk. But the views of the bay, Augustine and Douglas volcanoes, and the snow-capped Kenai Mountains are genuinely hard to beat.

On Property
How you'll actually spend your days.
Shared outdoor hot tub with panoramic views of Kachemak Bay and the Douglas and Augustine volcanoes. Available to all guests. Especially popular at night for stargazing and, in winter, northern lights viewing.
Cross-country ski and snowshoe trails start directly across the road from the property. No rental gear on site, but access is immediate in winter months.
Fishing adventures can be arranged through the property in partnership with Homer Ocean Charters (homerocean.com). Homer is known as the Halibut Fishing Capital of the World — fishing in Kachemak Bay or out to the Barren Islands.
Horseshoe pit on the upper lawn area, shared among all guests.
Off-site but easily arranged: kayaking and boat tours along the Alaskan coastline at Kachemak Bay State Park. Water taxis to the park across the bay are a guest favorite. Center for Alaskan Coastal Studies nature walks can also be booked locally.
Multiple fire pits on the property — both shared on the upper lawn and private covered fire pits at the Grotto and Cove suites. Upper shared fire pit looks over the bay and volcano panorama.
Eagles, puffins, whales in Kachemak Bay, moose, and otters are commonly spotted from the property and surrounding bluffs. No guided tours on-site — this is self-directed from your deck or the bluff.
