The combination of Grade II listed architecture, individually designed rooms (each genuinely different), dog-friendly policy across almost every accommodation type, and a brasserie restaurant cooking with ingredients from local independent farmers. A Grade II listed Victorian manor house built in 1894 at the western edge of Exmoor National Park — the main building blends Regency understatement with Victorian Gothic flourishes, and a 2012 redesign by Karen Grey Interiors layered in dramatic fabrics, open fireplaces, and Far East-inspired detailing. The property has since grown well beyond its manor house origins, adding detached Cottage Suites with private hot tubs and self-catering lodges that suit families and groups who prefer cooking for themselves. No pool, no spa. But the Coach House restaurant is genuinely good, locally sourced, and open to non-guests.

The entry-level room at Kentisbury Grange — renovated to a high standard with a timeless, muted colour palette. Flat-screen TV, free WiFi, ample storage, and a full en-suite bathroom. Guests in Classic rooms consistently report large bathrooms and countryside views. Honest value for a well-kept room in a characterful building.
Cottage Suite Private Luxury Haven
Two available, including dog-friendly options. Same 366 sq ft footprint as the hot tub cottages, but without the private tub. Still detached from the main house for genuine privacy, with the Karen Grey Interiors design DNA throughout. Large double bed, full en-suite, big garden-facing windows. Good for guests wanting space and separation without paying the hot tub premium.
Garden Suite
Modern and deliberately glam: marble design, crushed velvet finishings, a private minibar, and panoramic garden views through large windows. Two of the suites are dog-friendly. Deluxe double bed. This is the most contemporary-feeling room in the hotel — less Victorian manor, more boutique hotel.
Kentisbury Suite
The top-tier main house room at 269 sq ft — compact by suite standards but beautifully equipped. An English fireplace, freestanding bath, and an extra-large double bed. Fabrics range from Jim Thompson Collections to Christian Lacroix. First-floor views of the grounds. Aimed squarely at couples looking for the full country house experience.
Extra-large doubleLuxury Cottage Suite with Private Hot Tub
Three of these are available. Each is a standalone cottage within the hotel grounds, designed by Karen Grey Interiors. At 366 sq ft, there's real space to move. Large windows frame the gardens, and the private outdoor hot tub is the main draw — a genuine outdoor soak under the Devon sky, not a token addition. Large double bed, luxury en-suite bathroom.
Luxury Room
At 226 sq ft it's sizeable enough for a longer stay. Bright, airy en-suite, luxury bed linen and toiletries, flat-screen TV, and the comfortable, well-finished aesthetic that runs through the whole property. A solid mid-tier option for guests who want comfort without suite-level spend.
Two Bedroom Family Lodge
Freestanding lodge in the hotel grounds, sleeping up to four. Two bedrooms (two single beds plus a large double), two bathrooms (one with deluge shower, one with bath), a fully equipped self-catering kitchen, private decked terrace with views over the on-site pond. Flat-screen TVs, music system, full kitchen with Smeg appliances. Access to the Coach House restaurant for when you don't want to cook.
