Kimpton Da An opened in March 2019 as the brand's first property in Asia, and it remains one of their most architecturally serious. Shanghai-based Neri & Hu converted a former luxury apartment complex into a 129-room boutique hotel using the concept of an 'urban sanctuary' — white glossy tiles, concrete finishes, oak room dividers, and a dramatic double-height atrium in the lobby. The result is calm without being cold. Rooms are compact but beautifully resolved, and the 12th-floor Tavernist restaurant is legitimately worth a visit on its own.

Essential Room
The entry-level category, but don't write it off. At 32–38 sqm, these are workable rooms with oak threshold dividers creating a sense of zones within the space. Nespresso machine, Atelier Bloem amenities, TOTO washlet, 50-inch LED TV, and free WiFi. Some rooms have city views. The open-concept bathroom design (partial screens rather than full walls) isn't for everyone — worth knowing before you book.

Crescent-shaped couch, proper work desk built into the carpentry, rain shower plus square Japanese soaking tub in select rooms.
