Koenigshof, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Munich
Urban luxury meets contemporary Munich culture — modern architecture with an artsy, cosmopolitan energy. The art collection alone (Beuys, Christo und Jeanne-Claude, David John Flynn) sets it apart from cookie-cutter luxury chains. Not a spa-and-pool resort; more of a city hotel for people who actually want to be in Munich.
Marriott STARS bookings come with a complimentary 2-hour private spa session — otherwise it costs €520 for 3 hours
Why It Matters
First Luxury Collection hotel in Germany. The building itself is an architectural event. The rooftop GRETA OTO restaurant has earned a spot in the Michelin Guide Germany 2025 and draws real Munich locals — rare for a hotel restaurant. Complimentary minibar, daily epicurean moment, and private spa with pool access are standout touches. Bookable on Marriott Bonvoy points.
The Koenigshof opened in mid-2024 on a site where Munich has hosted a hotel since 1866. Designed by celebrated Spanish architects Nieto Sobejano, the building is a bold contemporary statement right on Karlsplatz (Stachus) — all louvered gold corrugation, floor-to-ceiling glass, and a signature vertical fissure cut through the facade. Inside: 106 rooms and suites lined with dark wood paneling, Bavarian artwork, and a 20-meter glass atrium that pulls light through the building. It's also The Luxury Collection's first property in Germany.
